Moles can be very difficult to deal with. If you are buying over the counter products often times, they do not even work at all. From the ultrasonic devices to different bait products, many of them are limited effective to not effective at all. Moles eat earthworms and other insects that are found in the soil, often times in your yard. The on average eat their body weight every day. This means they are constantly on the go looking for food. This is why you will get lots of tunnels and mounds. Moles are not communal animals. They live alone most of the time and are very territorial. Generally, only 1 mole per 1/4 acre.
Products out there that are made from grains and look like pellets are not effective at all. This is not even a food they would consider eating yet they market it for mole control. I have found that trapping is the most effective way to remove your mole problem. It’s down fall its it is very time-consuming which results in higher cost. However, the effectiveness of trapping far outweighs the cost. To be able to remove a mole from a yard without guessing if they are eating bait or scaring them away with some vibrating sound (doesn’t work). If you are looking to get rid of a mole problem, I recommend calling someone who deals with them on the regular.
